I’m back after the hack!
Last Sunday wasn’t a happy day for me. I woke up to adjust some things on my site and found out that my wordpress website was hacked. Yup, it turns out that I fell victim to a common wordpress security flaw (now hopefully fixed in 2.81) which allowed a worm script to access your wp-admin file, gather your login and password and enter your blog and delete/screw things up. The whole process takes like 2 seconds but when you’ve been lax like me about backing up it can be frustrating.  Well I lost everything on the site, but I had most, if not all of the files I used to create everything, I just didn’t have my widget settings and of course my blog backed up. I haven’t blogged much so that wasn’t a problem and I was able to get the majority of everything back together in a day. It’s taken me until now to re-release my site into the world because I’ve been looking for updated widgets that work with the latest wordpress release. I’ve also moved things around and improved other stuff, so all in all the hack actually did me a favor. Right back at ya’ you stupid Turk hackers!
